Week 2 - Day 1
Chapter 4 - Friends Don't Let Friends Eat Before Thinking
pg 41 - we need measures of accountability. For me, one of the most effective accountability measures has been mutually tracking progress with friends.
pg 42 - We must be aware that desperation breeds degradation...when what is lacking in life goes from being an annoyance to an anxiety we run the risk of compromising...
At this point the book used the following verses and discussed that when we are desperate, (such as when you would give anything to have something that is not on your plan), we become anxious and that opens the door wide open to an attack from Satan.
1Peter 5:7-8 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
Our friends can help us to stay alert by praying for us and they can help us be self-controlled. pg 43 - Friends help us remember that what we're giving up in the short term will help us get what we really want in the long term.
The book went on to discuss how pg 45 Knowing I couldn't hide little cheats...kept me from slipping."
Find friends who are willing to pray for you and will take this journey with you.
