Day 4 - The Lord is your shelter
Today we continue with Psalm 121.
Psalm 121
1 I WILL lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help?
2 My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.
3 He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber.
4 Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade at your right hand.
6 The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night.
7 The LORD shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul.
8 The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore.
This Psalm speaks of protection throughout, it is an assurance that God is always watching over us. Every step we are protected and sheltered. He is that maker of heaven and earth so He can do anything, including protecting us. So why is there suffering, why do Christians have to endure what appears to be stumbling and pain.
Only when we realize that our world goes beyond what we can see, hear, and feel can we begin to grasp the awesomeness (is that even a word?) of these words in this Psalm. Yes, we have trials in our lives - but they ultimately are for us to learn and grow closer to God. What about all the ways Satan is trying to attack us, we are protecting from that which can push us off the path God intends us to be on. He protects us from things we don't even know about!
Psalm 91:4 He will shield you with his wings. He will shelter you with his feathers. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
He allows us to spread our wings and venture out to explore the world around us, but when danger is upon us He shield us. His promise of eternal life is our protection from anything and everything else.
